Silicone Fire Sleeve Hook and Loop – Flexible Protection Solution

August 19, 2024

Thousands of customers across the world depend on silicone fire sleeve to protect key equipment and facilities. British made to the highest standards, silicone fire sleeves from National Firesleeve are used across a range of sectors, including heavy industry, mining, rail engines, marine engine rooms, automotive manufacturing, oil and gas and offshore power.

Silicone fire sleeves are usually installed as part of the original construction of a plant, or during the manufacturing of machinery, with the silicone fire sleeve slid along the length of pipes, hoses, wires and cables as a continuous tube. This delivers outstanding levels of protection from heat and flame, acids and alkalis, as well as molten splash.

Silicone fire sleeves also provide protection for operators, insulating them from dangerous heat sources and reducing the risk of fire due to electrical short circuits and arcs from frayed cables.

Silicone fire sleeves for essential repairs

National Firesleeve’s silicone fire sleeves are remarkably durable, with an outer coating of tough silicone rubber and a thick inner sleeve of woven glass fabric. However, even such robust, durable and hardwearing products will occasionally require repairs and refurbishment. This can pose a problem where pipework, hoses and cables cannot be disconnected so that new silicone fire sleeves can be slid into place.

That’s why our expert design team came up with hook and loop silicone fire sleeves. These innovative products offer all the same levels of protection as our standard silicone fire sleeves, but they can be fitted to existing machines and installations with ease.

Instead of a continuous tube-like sleeve, hook and loop silicone fire sleeves are open at one side, so that they can slip, or clip, easily onto the full length of the pipe, hose or wire. The sleeve is then secured in place with a strong hook and loop connection that pulls the sleeve tightly into place. These hooked silicone fire sleeves then perform in exactly the same way as full tube fire sleeves.

Retro fitting and refurbishments

Hook and loop silicone fire sleeves are an ideal choice for retro fitting to existing machinery when you want to improve the fire resistance and safety. This may be due to a drive to increase health and safety on site, or as a cost-effective way to comply with new, tighter safety regulations. With hook and loop silicone fire sleeves, you can upgrade your safety quickly and easily, matching the very best OEM standards.

Our choice of colours, including bespoke custom colours, means that you can match your existing installation exactly, blending the modern protection of silicone fire sleeves into any existing set up subtly and unobtrusively.

Sympathetic restoration projects

National Firesleeve have also supplied hook and loop silicone fire sleeves to a number of restoration projects, such as classic ships and steam engines. The flexibility of the products means that modern standards of safety can be reached for historic engines and equipment, without the need for extensive dismantling of pipes, hoses and cables that could cause more problems than it solves. Hook and loop silicone fire sleeves simply clip into place to provide the protection you need, without spoiling the authenticity of the underlying machinery.
